My Leeds, My Way
A community activities programme for young people aged 14–17 with SEND, across Leeds. Giving young people to participate in enjoyable, age respectful outings across Leeds, shaped around what each young person likes, wants to try and hopes to become more confident doing.
Every young person is different. The programme deliberately blends active, social and creative outings so that there is something each young person can look forward to, and so that families can see how one balanced programme meets a wide range of needs and personalities.
Who can join?
- Disability: SEND
- Age: Young people aged 14–17
What young people can look forward to:
- Real teenage experiences: bowling, cinema, eating out, accessible sport, theatre, pool, city exploration and seasonal events.
- Choice and control: young people influence the venue, pace, food, seating, communication method and future calendar.
- Belonging: small compatible groups create space for friendships to develop naturally without forced interaction.
- Confidence for adulthood: ordering, budgeting, travelling, navigating public places, making decisions and asking for help are practised naturally.
- A predictable experience: clear information, visual itineraries or social stories are available in advance for anyone who benefits from them.
- Support that respects dignity: personal, communication, mobility, sensory and health needs are planned around the individual.
